Xbox 360 alla conquista del Giappone
I miliardi di dollari spesi nello sviluppo, nella produzione e nella vendita sottocosto dell’Xbox 360 bastano da soli suggerire l’importanza che il videogame market riveste nelle strategie commerciali di Microsoft. Come sempre l’obiettivo primario di Redmond è scardinare il dominio assoluto del gigante Sony, che ora offre il fianco all’offensiva americana ritardando a novembre il debutto della Playstation 3. Un’occasione ghiotta per Gates che infatti si prepara all’arrembaggio del ricco mercato nipponico dove promette di triplicare il numero di titoli disponibili su Xbox 360 entro la fine dell’anno. Insomma, a Redmond sembrano aver capito che la forza della Playstation è anche e soprattutto nel suo sterminato catalogo di videogiochi e sembrano volersi finalmente adeguare, come conferma anche la recentissima acquisizione di Lionhead Studios, il game developer cui si devono titoli come Black&White e Fable. A conti fatti, se lo zio Bill gioca bene le sue carte e riesce davvero a “sedurre” i game developer giapponesi con cui sta trattando, potrebbe anche riuscire nell’impresa.
